Hot-poured Rubberized Crack Sealing

Does Your Asphalt Have Cracks or Joint Separation?

Our team at BMG Asphalt in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas utilize a hot rubberized joint and crack sealing material. When hardened into a rubber form, it minimizes surface water leaking beneath the asphalt causing further damage. It is an extremely durable material that is highly elastic and stretches with the movement to help prevent asphalt crack depth and width expansion. With the amount of heavy rains and snow in our service area, cracks are the leading cause of asphalt failure.

Save Money Using Joint and Crack Sealing

Joint and crack sealing extends the overall integrity of your asphalt structure and saves your business money by delaying the high cost of reconstructive asphalt maintenance. The cracks forming in your asphalt can be sealed using a hot pour rubberized sealant. If cracks are not properly sealed, they will continue to increase in size leading to even more cracking, in turn causing further water damage, which can eventually result in the development of potholes.

The Crack Sealing Process

After cleaning the cracks with high pressured blowing equipment or a wire grazing brush (in extreme cases), this product is applied to the crack at about 400 degrees. As it quickly cools, if forms a strong bond to the pavement. The hot-poured rubberized crack sealant maintains elasticity with expansion or displacement of the pavement. Sealing those small cracks now will prevent them from forming alligator cracks and/or worst of all, potholes.

This can be a ‘stand alone’ service as it is essential maintenance for commercial parking lots in particular, but must always be a part of your restoration plan when having an asphalt sealcoat performed.
